Enter our Teen Library Card Design Contest! 

The Santa Clara City Library is excited to bring you a limited-edition teen library card! We need your creative talent to design it. Santa Clara City Library’s teen community is encouraged to share their best designs for a chance to win and help us create this unique and limited card.

Who can enter?  

The contest is open to teenagers (strictly ages 13-18 years old) who either attend school or live in Santa Clara, CA.   

When? 

Due date: Jan. 31, 2026 at 6 p.m.   

Theme

What does the Santa Clara City Library mean to you?   

Ideas can include:  

  • How books inspire you  
  • How libraries inspire you  
  • How the Santa Clara City Library makes your life better  

Prizes  

One winner will be selected in each category:  

1st place: $200  
2nd place: $150  
3rd place: $100  

Prizes are sponsored through the generous donation of the Santa Clara City Library Foundation and Friends.  

Submission Requirements and Contest Rules 

  • Adhere to theme: “What does the Santa Clara City Library mean to you?” Ideas can include but are not limited to how books inspire you, how libraries inspire you, how the Santa Clara City Library makes your life better. 

  • Use the Teen Library Card Contest template (pdf). Templates may be picked up at any Santa Clara City Library location. Artwork should fit within template space provided. 

  • Only Santa Clara teens ages 13-18 living or attending school in Santa Clara, CA, can participate.  

  • Submissions may be in any art medium. Digital designs must be high resolution, at least 300dpi and must be saved as a .pdf, .jpg or .png. 

  • Artwork must be original. No AI, plagiarism, or copyright will be accepted.  

  • Limit one (1) entry per person.  

  • Do not include your name in the artwork.  

  • Santa Clara City Library must be included in the artwork. 

  • Must not include inappropriate or offensive images or wording.  

  • Information at the bottom of the template (name, contact info, etc.) must be complete or submission may be disqualified from contest. 

  • ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY JAN 31, 2026. 

Judging

A panel of judges will review all entries for quality and effective representation of the theme. The panel of judges will narrow down all entries to top 5. Teens from the community will then get the chance to vote either online or in person at any Santa Clara City Library branch for their favorite library card and determine the contest winner. 

Photo/Creative Works Release Agreement 

By submitting an entry, you give permission for the City of Santa Clara to reproduce creative works resulting from your participation in the Santa Clara City Library’s card contest. You understand that the purpose is to promote the Library and its services/programs. You give permission with the following understanding: no compensation of any kind will be paid at this time or in the future for the use of your creative works. The City of Santa Clara reserves the right to modify creative works resulting from participation in the Santa Clara City Library’s card contest to conform to the dimensions of the library card or to accommodate text. You may not use creative works resulting from participation in the contest for commercial purposes without approval.
