Check Out and Code Kits
Head to your local Santa Clara City Library location to pick up a Check Out and Code Kit! Each kit contains a Chromebook, charging cable and wall charger, mouse, instruction sheet, bag, and automatic access to our coding hub. Kits can be put on hold from our catalog. Once you log into the Chromebook, you will be directed to the coding hub filled with coding curricula. There, you can choose which coding language to learn and start coding! Currently, we offer curricula for Python, Java, C++, Scratch, ScratchJr, and CSFirst.
This is a living project, so we encourage all users to fill out this survey to help us make changes and improve this service.
These curricula are mostly aimed at users aged 10+, but we also have coding lessons for users aged 5+. When using these lessons, it is important that an adult is present to help and guide younger coders.
This service was funded by the 2021-2022 PLP Innovation and Technology Opportunity Grant.
