VHS Converter

Do you have family movies on VHS tapes you need to preserve? Central Park Library has equipment to help you convert your movies to digital files for free. This device is available during our library service hours at Central Park Library. First-come, first-served and in-library use only. Once you check the device out you will have it for two hours. If there are no other interested patrons that day you may use the device longer.

Important Notes:

VHS tape conversion runs in real time. That means if you have a one-hour movie, it takes an hour to digitize that movie. The digital file of the movie will be in ASF format and can be played with different types of media players such as Windows media player or VLC. The converter works with an SD card. Please bring your own SD card (no bigger than 32G) to save your digital movie.

Equipment includes:

  • VHS player
  • VuPoint Digital Video Converter (including two AV cables)
  • Eyoyo Monitor
  • SD Card to USB Adapter
